Alvise Rodella steps up to Spanish F4 with MP Motorsport
Italian karter Alvise Rodella has chosen MP Motorsport for his full-season promotion to single-seaters. The youngster will step up from karts for a campaign in the 2023 Spanish Formula 4 Championship with the Dutch team.
Last month, Rodella made his single-seater debut in the German-run Formula Winter Series for F4 cars, taking part in the series’ first two rounds at Jérez and Valencia. The Italian will now remain in Spain for his first full season in formula racing, having already become acquainted with MP in the big collective F4 test at Spa, where he clocked some encouraging lap times. Among his teammates in MP’s Spanish F4 line-up will be his more experienced countryman Valerio Rinicella, Colombian teenager Jerónimo Berrío, and Brazilian rising star Pedro Clerot.
“I’m excited to join MP Motorsport for my rookie season in single-seaters”, said Rodella. “The Spanish Formula 4 Championship is an extremely competitive series that will push me into extracting everything I have while adapting to formula cars. Testing with MP has been a great experience already, and now I can’t wait to get the season started!”
“We are happy to welcome Alvise to our line-up, where he will form an excellent addition to our Spanish F4 squad that also includes Valerio, Jerónimo, and Pedro”, said MP Motorsport’s team principal Sander Dorsman. “Alvise has shown much promise in karts, and we are now looking to transform his obvious talent into skills that will help him become a frontrunner in his first season in car racing.”
In 2021, Rodella completed his final karting season at Junior level before being promoted to OK and X30 Senior level in 2022. Last year, the Italian ran a combined programme of the various WSK-run series and cups, the FIA World Karting Championship, the British Karting Championship, the IAME Euro Series and the Italian Karting Championship, racking up a string of excellent results.
