Bas Kaligis / Tuesday, April 30, 2024 / Categories: CIKFIA Allocation of seats for the 2024 FIA Karting World Cup - OK-N In mid-September 2024, the first OK-N FIA Karting World Cup will take place at PF International in the United Kingdom. This date will mark the end of the initial launch phase of this new category created by the CIK-FIA in 2022. This World Cup will be run as part of the most prestigious event of the season: the Mondokart FIA Karting World Championship - OK & Junior. The CIK-FIA is reserving 31 of the 36 places available for ASNs that have supported the development of OK-N through competitions launched either in 2023 or 2024. Intended for national championships, the OK-N is based on a technical definition of its engines which facilitates the participation of a large audience in each country. The OK-derived powertrains provide performance and reliability within a controlled budget. The large number of manufacturers involved guarantees the quality of the engines themselves as well as a healthy regulation of selling prices and operating costs within a free market. The specific race format contributes, in accordance with the wishes of the CIK-FIA, to the spirit of OK-N with competition concentrated on a major event, the use of a single chassis, a single engine and just 6 tyres. Since this World Cup is not part of an Arrive & Drive program, the drivers will have to come with their own chassis and engine. The CIK-FIA has determined the number of places allocated per country according to strict rules. All ASNs hosting a 2024 national title on OK-N equipment will receive two places for the top two Drivers classified in their Championship. France, which has proposed an OK-N programme in 2023 and the "Road to OK-N World Cup" competition organised in support of the Mondokart FIA Karting World Championship in 2023, will receive 3 places for their first three drivers. The African Karting Cup, which took place in South Africa last February, has also been allocated 3 places because of the way it brings together several countries. Should any top-two or top-three Drivers waive their right to enter, substitutions may be made for other drivers, subject to the number of places available per championship and in the order of the rankings concerned.
