Alex Connor steps up to BRDC British F3 with Arden

Arden Motorsport has confirmed Alex Connor as its second driver for the 2021 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship season.

Both driver and team are new to the grid this year, but the internationally renowned outfit and the 16-year-old have worked together previously. Connor joined the Arden-affiliated Young Racing Driver Academy (YRDA) in 2017 after a successful career in karting, before graduating to the British F4 team in 2019.

Connor claimed five class victories and a further 17 podiums on his way to securing the runner-up spot in the Rookie Cup that year, picking up an outright podium and pole position at Brands Hatch.

After returning to the series in 2020, Connor was a regular frontrunner, winning three times including an impressive charge through the pack at Donington Park. The Dubai-based Brit also claimed five podiums and a brace of pole positions on his way to fourth in the standings.

Connor joins Frederick Lubin in this year’s Arden F3 line-up, ahead of the championship’s scheduled start at Brands Hatch on 22-23 May.

Garry Horner, Arden Motorsport Team Principal said: “I’m delighted to see our partnership with Alex continue as he makes the step up to the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship for the 2021 season. He’s a proven talent after a successful two-year stint in F4, and his track record really does speak for itself. The time for him to make that step up into F3 is definitely now, and we’re very pleased to welcome him back for what will be a new and exciting challenge for the whole team.”

Alex Connor said: “I’m very happy to have the chance to move up to the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship with Arden. The team and the YRDA have supported me from the very start of my racing journey and we all worked very well together in British F4 so I know that we are going to be able to focus 100% on a really strong debut season right from the start. The Championship races on some of my favourite tracks, so I can’t wait to tackle them with the extra speed and power of the F3 car - and I know that Spa is going to be awesome!”

The 2021 BRDC British F3 Championship is scheduled to begin at Brands Hatch on 22/23 May. For more information about BRDC British F3, please visit www.britishf3.com.
