Alessandro Giusti is the fastest on the day dedicated to FRECA collective tests at Hockenheim

It is collective test day at Hockenheimring, for the first round of the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. After the morning session, lap times further drop in the second track session at Hockenheim, with the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine Collective test 2. At the end of the 50 minutes on track, it’s French driver Alessandro Giusti, Williams Racing Driver Academy representing ART Grand Prix, who sets the fastest time of the day with 1’35.730. Following him is Enzo Deligny, French driver with Red Bull junior team insignia and representing R-ace GP, who stopped the clock with a gap of 0.133 behind the leader. In third place, after holding the fastest lap for part of the session, is Brazilian Rafael Camara of the Ferrari Driver Academy for Prema Racing, closely following with a gap of 0.142.

 

Fourth in the collective test 2 in Germany was Théophile Naël, for Team Saintéloc, with a gap of 0.189. In fifth position is Finnish Ferrari Driver Academy driver Tuukka Taponen, who was the fastest this morning, representing Prema Racing, finishing the second session of the day 0.245 behind the leader. It’s then Roman driver Matteo De Palo following closely in P6. The Saintéloc Racing representative concludes the session 0.259 behind, ahead of MP Motorsport’s driver Nikita Bedrin, who is 0.274 behind. Eighth place goes again to an Italian driver, Brando Badoer of Van Amersfoort Racing, finishing 0.299 behind. Ninth is Australian driver James Wharton of Prema Racing with 0.409, followed by Maltese-Filipino Zachary David, for R-ace GP, who rounds up the top 10 with a gap of 0.448.

 

The timetable

Back on the track tomorrow, with the official start of the weekend. On Saturday, May 11th, Group A qualifying will hit the track from 11:15 to 11:30, followed by Group B from 11:35 to 11:50. Race 1 will then take place, lasting for 30 minutes + 1 lap, starting at 17:40. On Sunday, May 12th, there will be qualifying sessions again, with Group B on track from 10:15 to 10:30, followed by Group A from 10:35 to 10:50. The final race of the weekend (30 minutes + 1 lap) will start at 16:10.
