After penalties, race 1 Pole Position goes to Martinius Stenshorne

After the post-session examinations carried on by the Stewards following Race Director’s reports, Group A qualifying results change. Rafael Camara (Prema Racing) had his best lap deleted for failing to slow down when a yellow flag was displayed, while Lorenzo Fluxà (Prema Racing) left the track at turn 2. For this very same reason also Alessandro Giusti (G4 Racing) suffered the same penalty but kept the fifth placement.

Best lap time deleted also for MP Motorsport duo Sami Meguetounif, who lost P6 and is now P10, and Victor Bernier, both for failing to slow down with a yellow flag exposed after Giovanni Maschio’s car spun. The first pole position of the year goes then to Martinius Stenshorne, R-ace GP, with 1’39.133. Stenshorne is the first Rookie driver ever to gain the pole in the first race of the season in Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine.

Camara slips to P2 (+0.120), followed by Fluxà in third (+0.265). Tim Tramnitz (R-ace GP) is fourth with a gap of 0.280.

Race 1, 30 minutes + 1 lap, will be live today at 16.20 (local time), with Stenshorne on pole with Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Prema Racing) in the front row, then Camara and Santiago Ramos (RPM). Third row to Fluxà and Kas Haverkort (MP Motorsport).

Sunday the second and last qualifying session (Group B 9.00 – 9.15; Group A 9.20 – 9.35) will precede Race 2 (14.35, 30 minutes + 1 lap). Qualifying and race sessions aired live on the official Youtube and Facebook pages @formularegionaleubyalpine.

The Grandstands Start 1 (Ex A) and Start 3 (Ex I) will be open to the public on April 21,22 and 23. The access is free of charge.
