ADAC to host German Kart Championship in future
The German Kart Championship will have a new look from the 2024 season onwards. For the coming season, ADAC e.V. will take over the organisation of the International German Kart Championship. The series has been an integral part of German karting since 1962, and the highest accolade in German karting will continue to be held under the umbrella of the ADAC in the future. On six race weekends, drivers in six classes will fight for the titles.
"Karting is a central pillar in the development of young talent in motorsport, a strong DKM forms the basis for successful promotion to the numerous automobile sports series of the ADAC up to the top, to the DTM. The German Kart Championship will become part of the ADAC motorsport family, we are thus taking an important step in the reorientation of karting and are making the sport in Germany fit for the future. In the DKM, we offer drivers and teams a professional environment for the development of new talents," says ADAC Sports President Dr Gerd Ennser.
Six race weekends are planned from April to September. The races will be held at the well-known circuits in Wackersdorf, Ampfing, Kerpen and Mülsen in Germany - and there will also be a guest appearance abroad in Genk, Belgium. The calendar for the DKM 2024 will be published shortly, and the dates will be in line with the major international racing series. In future, the DKM will cover a wide range of classes. In addition to the Mini and OK Juniors, both shifter kart classes (KZ2) will be offered again. In addition, there will be the IAME Series Germany with its X30 Junior and X30 Senior categories.
Due to the new structure, the ADAC Kart Masters will no longer be announced next year. Dr Ennser: "I would like to thank all those involved who have made the ADAC Kart Masters a success story through their commitment over the past years. With the German Kart Championship under the umbrella of the ADAC, we are now combining the strengths of both series and creating a strong platform for young talent."
