ADAC Karting Weekend: Road to OK-N World Cup
Munich - The ADAC Karting Weekend is under starter’s orders: the ADAC’s new event format for the karting scene will make its first appearance from 17th to 18th August. The ADAC Karting Weekend is an event format, which will see individual events held in addition to existing platforms in the future. The premiere takes place at the Schweppermannring in Ampfing. The focus there is on the OK-N class, and drivers will have the opportunity to secure two places at the OK-N World Cup.
The OK-N World Cup is taking place for the first time in 2024. The FIA has introduced the categories to boost national events and provide participants with a means of qualifying for the World Cup. The categories are OK-N Junior and OK-N. The top two in the OK-N class qualify for the 2024 World Cup. In total, 31 places are up for grabs to drivers all over the world. The OK-N World Cup takes place as part of the FIA Karting World Championship at the PF International Kart Circuit in England from 12th to 15th September. Over the course of the year, drivers can qualify via 14 events held around the world, including championships and individual events in Italy, France, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa.
“We are pleased to present a new platform with the ADAC Karting Weekend. The ADAC Karting Weekend allows us to hold individual events and try out new concepts in the future. First up is qualifying for the OK-N World Cup. We are strengthening national karting and supporting the efforts of the FIA to use the national OK-N concept to prepare drivers for bigger things on the international karting scene. This development is important to support talented youngsters in motorsport in Germany,” says ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.
The Mini, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters classes will line on the support programme at the ADAC Karting Weekend. The event offers drivers a professional platform, especially for those aged 35 and over, on which to compete against each other. Maxxis Rezum tyres are used in the two OK-N classes, in accordance with international regulations. The Mini, KZ2 and KZ2 Masters classes start on Vega tyres, as used in the DKM.
The ADAC Karting Weekend is run by ADAC e.V. and the organisational team of the German Kart Championship (DKM). Any further information and the link for online registration can be found at www.adac.de/motorsport. The deadline for registration for the ADAC Karting Weekend is 30th June 2024.
