Clash of street race titans at ‘baddest ass go kart race in the world’

Two giants of North American street racing faced off again during the 25th annual Xtream Rock Island Grand Prix powered by Mediacom, world’s largest karting street race. After a five-year absence raising a family, Gary Lawson of Indiana returned to “The Rock” for the 25th edition in hopes of adding to his 28 wins at the prestigious event. Meanwhile, Tony Neilson entered 10 of the 17 classes offered hoping to add to his 20 careers wins at Rock Island and closing the gap on Lawson. Lawson won three of the four races he entered – one at the expense of Neilson – while Neilson added three more wins to run his total to 23 including Yamaha Heavy 1. Another local Quad-Cities driver, Tim Goettsch, added a 12th career win in Yamaha Medium to move to third place in overall wins. Gage Rucker won the Yamaha Heavy 2 race.

After stops in Adria (Italy) and Kristianstad (Sweden), the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy travelled to Wackersdorf, Germany, from September 6th to 8th. In the modern facility of the Prokart Raceland, the Rotax elite once again gathered for the big finale of the year and was challenged by changeable weather conditions throughout the weekend. Yet the 1,190-metre long circuit in Bavaria kept dry most of the time and once again proved to be the perfect soil for exciting and action-packed racing, which in the end did not only ascertain some new winners but four worthy champions and seven delegates for the RMC Grand Finals in Sarno (IT) in October ...

Wonderful weekend at the Powerpark Circuit in Alahärmä, Finland, where our DJT engine pushes Thomas Ten Brinke towards the victory of the FIA Karting World Championship – Junior. The success is completed by the podiums conquered by Siksnelis, also in OKJ, and Thompson, third in OK with the DST engine.

Disappointing OK World Championship for Alex Irlando

Apulian Alex Irlando didn’t leave a mark in the FIA Karting OK World Championship held in Alahärmä, Finland.  After the positive training race at the end of August, no one could have imaginated such a complicated OK World Championship for Alex Irlando. The BirelART driver doesn’t qualify for the final race and his fight for the World crown finishes on Sunday morning after heats.

The 2019 FIA Karting World Championship in Finland proved to be a much more difficult race than expected for all competitors. On the Alahärmä circuit, where drivers lacked experience, the changeable weather added to the harshness of the situation. Despite the extremely difficult conditions, the Birel ART team never gave up and took several of their drivers to the Finals. And especially, the Italian Cristian Bertuca, who managed to earn his place in the top 10.
