After dominating the highly competitive field in the OK senior category from the beginning of the weekend at the third edition of the international German Kart Championship, Dutch driver Kas Haverkort set himself up to regain the lead in the 2019 series when he secured pole position and won both qualifying heats Saturday, to be starting on pole in Sunday’s first final. Taking P2 for a podium place was enough points to move him up to second in the standings, but a forced retirement in Race 2 ended his chance to reclaim the championship lead at the halfway mark.

The German Kart Championship travelled to the Erftland for the season half-time. On the venerable Ring in Kerpen, the ranked races five and six took place. 164 participants started and experienced thrilling races in changing weather. There were five double winners at the final races.

In the middle of the summer month of July (12th – 14th) the Rotax MAX Challenge Euro Trophy headed northwards. Six weeks after the outstanding season kick-off at the Italian Adria International Karting Raceway, the Asum-Ring in Kristianstad, Sweden, was the next top race track in the calendar of Europe's professional RMC karting series. 85 drivers from around 20 nations made their journey to Scandinavia to compete in the 2019 mid-season event on the 1,234 metre circuit. The spectators on-site, as well as the fans watching the live stream, witnessed some thrilling battles throughout the weekend program, at the end of which some new faces were added to the European Rotax winners’ list while the first champion was crowned as well.

The participants of the German Electric Kart Championship had to wait nine weeks for the next races. Last weekend (July 12th – 14th), the next event took place in Kerpen and numerous spectators got to see thrilling kart racing on the Erftlandring. The international field of participants fought thrilling duels. Guest driver and DTM driver Ferdinand Habsburg stood on the third place of the podium on Sunday.

186 participants from all over the world are at Kerpen this weekend and drive the half-time races of the German Kart Championship. The 1.107m long Erftlandring has been a part of the highest German kart racing series for decades and still has a special flair. Unlike some of the new tracks, this one is especially challenging and demands full concentration. In the past, there were always several surprises regarding the fights for victory in Kerpen.
