198 drivers start at DKM kick-off; German Kart Championship with participant record again

Frankfurt on the Main. After an eight months break, the German Kart Championship is going to start again next weekend. 198 drivers are going to start into the first ranked races on the South Garda Circuit in Lonato (Italy). The events are going to be accompanied by an extensive live-stream and a DKM magazine on MOTORVISION.TV again. At the same time, the highest German kart racing series is going to present its own YouTube channel.

The four grade series German Kart-Championship (DKM), German Junior-Kart-Championship (DKJM), German Shifterkart-Championship (DSKM) and DMSB Shifterkart-Cup (DSKC) have been causing quite a stir since the beginning of the year. After opening up the online-registration, the four categories experienced a run for the starting positions. In the end, the interest was so huge that the DSKC was enlarged from 34 to 54 participants. After the heats, the field is now going to be divided into two pre-finals. The best 34 drivers are then going to proceed to the final race.

The kick-off to the new season is going to take place on the South Garda Circuit in Lonato again. The 1.200m long race track close by the Lake Garda is part of the DKM racing calendar for the third time and provides the perfect setting. After this, the next events are going to take place in Wackersdorf, Kerpen, Belgian Genk and the finale in Ampfing from October 4th-6th. With more than 180 registered participants, thrilling races are guaranteed.

Just like in the past, the four fields of participants are brilliantly manned. In the top class of the German Kart-Championship (DKM), Harry Thompson (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) is aiming for the title. But next to the Brit, there are numerous other favorites, among them the reigning Vice Champion Hugo Sasse (TB Racing Team) from Germany and Kart World Champion Lorenzo Travisanutto (CV Performance Group). The German Junior-Kart-Championship (DKJM) provides a similar picture. Thomas Ten Brinke (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) from the Netherlands wants to prove himself again. German Fabio Rauer (RS Schumacher Racing Team) is considered as one of the fast rookies. The champion of last year’s ADAC Kart Academy is also going to represent the German colors at the FIA Karting Academy Trophy this year.

The two shifterkart categories have the biggest fields of participants and these read like a who-is-who of kart racing. At the German Shifterkart-Championship (DSKM), reigning Champion Fabian Federer is going to start with number 201 and is going to be the hunted this season. Among his biggest pursuers are the Pex-brothers Jorrit and Stan but also the overall winner of the DMSB Shifterkart-Cup (DSKC) Emilien Denner (CPB Sport). At the DSKC the cards are going to be dealt anew: The first five drivers of last year cannot start again and make room for new winners. Due to a field of 54 drivers, the number of favorites is rather big.

Nine final races and lots of action

After free training on Friday, the kick-off to the racing events is going to take place on Saturday. During qualifying, the drivers are going to fight for the starting positions of the heats. All classes drive three heats. The best drivers are then going to directly qualify for the final races. These are then going to take place on Sunday from 9:20 am and are going to start with the first pre-final of the DSKC.
