Tuukka Taponen and Bruno Del Pino, official drivers of the Tony Kart Racing Team in the OK class, are the drivers they suggested to Ferrari Driver Academy who take part in the Scouting Camp organized by the FDA itself in partnership with ACI (Automobile Club d'Italia) with the aim of looking for the most promising young karters.
On Monday 28th of June, the Scouting Camp of the Ferrari Driver Academy has started, the Maranello-based company division has the aim to find, grow and train new talents to be assigned in the future, to a Formula 1 car. The Camp, which end is on Friday July 2nd , has been managed in partnership with ACI (Automobile Club d'Italia) and involves two young talents of the international karting, official drivers of the Tony Kart Racing Team in the OK class: Tuukka Taponen (Finland) and Bruno Del Pino (Spain).
The work programme of the Camp in Maranello is scheduled with five days of intense activities focused on different and important aspects for the training of each driver. The first three days are dedicated to psycho-physical training, stress management, technical and sporting knowledge, race and driving behaviour. The last two days, on the other hand, are exclusively dedicated to the test on track in Fiorano with a Formula 4 single-seater.
The Camp is the right opportunity for karters to work and improve their driving skills in view of the single-seater car, as well as knowing and observing closely a unique motorsport context, such as the one offered by the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Since 2016, the close cooperation between the Tony Kart Racing Team and the Ferrari Driver Academy has been giving drivers from our sporting division the direct access to the proposals that Ferrari Driver Academy constantly carries out for the most promising karters. It is no coincidence that several current FDA drivers - Mick Schumacher, Marcus Armstrong, Dino Beganovic - have served in the Tony Kart team during their karting careers before becoming drivers in the Maranello company's sports programme. Therefore we wish Tuukka and Bruno all the best for their work and for a growing path alike their predecessors.
