Mexican driver Sebastian Alvarez steps up to the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship for 2021, following the confirmation this afternoon that he will contest the season with Hitech GP. Alvarez debuted in car racing back in 2018, entering the F4 British Championship and claiming two Rookie Class podiums and a pole position along the way. He returned to the series in 2019, claiming five race wins as he elevated himself into title contention for the first time, ultimately finishing the year as runner-up. Alvarez has tested with the team ahead of his full-time F3 campaign, which is set to begin at Brands Hatch on 22/23 May.
This is Hitech's second driver announcement for 2021, following the earlier news that Australian Bart Horsten would switch to the team this year. News of the team's third driver for its second season in BRDC British F3 will follow in due course. Alvarez said: "I'm excited to make the step up into British Formula 3 with Hitech. I cannot wait to get going after a year out. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone in the team and working together to achieve great results. Hitech is a great team with lots of experience. I want to thank my sponsors Einteligent, Miura Capital, Interproteccion, NSAA and Escuderia Telmex and everyone else that made this possible." The 2021 BRDC British F3 Championship is scheduled to begin at Brands Hatch on 22/23 May. For more information about BRDC British F3, please visit www.britishf3.com.
