Young Belgian talent Yani Stevenheydens has joined MP Motorsport for this year’s F4 Spanish Championship, as the Dutch single-seater team continues to expand its Formula 4 line-up. The 18-year-old, from Meise, already had his first taste of Spanish F4 by teaming up with MP in the opening round of the F4 Spanish Winter Championship at Jérez last weekend.
 

Stevenheydens finished the 2024 French F4 Championship as the season’s runner-up, coming up just six points short of the title after racking up an impressive tally of four wins, 12 podiums, eight pole positions and six fastest laps.
 

He will now bring his Formula 4 prowess to the ultra-competitive F4 Spanish Championship while also completing the current Winter Series. For this he has joined René Lammers, Hudson Schwartz and Niklas Schaufler in MP’s Spanish line-up, with more announcements still to come.

Last year, they were on top form, so combined with my knowledge of Formula 4 that should translate into a very competitive season. I’ve already enjoyed my first experience with the team and look forward to building our relationship into a race-winning proposition.”

Before Stevenheydens claimed seventh and then second in the 2023 and 2024 French F4 Championship respectively, he featured prominently among the IAME X30 ranks in karting.
 

In 2019 the young Belgian came third in the Benelux series' Junior Championship ahead of netting seventh in the 2020 Euro Series and becoming the Benelux Champion in that same season. His 2021 highlight was 10th in the Senior category of the IAME Warriors Final, before a breakthrough second place in the same event in 2022 - having taken 10th in that season’s Euro Series.
