Reigning Spanish Formula 4 Champion Kas Haverkort will remain with Dutch team MP Motorsport this year, it is confirmed this morning, for an attack on the newly formed Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. Dutchman Haverkort dominated Spanish F4 by taking no less than 13 wins, while also contesting two late-season Formula Renault rounds with MP Motorsport where he gained points in all four races. He will now expand on his experience at this level by taking on a full season in Formula Regional European, which has merged with the Formula Renault Eurocup for 2021 and beyond. “Staying with MP was the best possible decision”, said Haverkort, “Last year we won the Spanish F4 Championship together, and I was right up there when I joined the team for a few Formula Renault races late in the season. This team knows how to win and, for me as a Dutchman, it feels close to home too. Let’s get this season started!” “I’m proud to include Kas in a very strong line-up of drivers for our Formula Regional European assault”, said Sander Dorsman, MP Motorsport’s team manager, “It’s great that he has decided to stay with us for what I’m sure will be another highly successful season. The 2020 campaign was a blast with Kas, and we are all anxious to give that a repeat in 2021.” Haverkort, who is supported by the Dutch federation as a member of TeamNL, raced at world level in OK Junior, OK and KZ2 Karting before graduating to single-seaters.
