World Karting Champion Mark Kimber will graduate to Porsche Carrera Cup GB as he signs on with Brookspeed to contest the full 16-round season in 2020. Following on from his debut season of car racing in British GT's GT4 class last year, Mark will now graduate to Britain’s top single-make racing series as he gets behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car for the BTCC-supporting championship. The Solihull racer will compete alongside multiple VW Cup champion Aaron Mason in the Team Connect IT-sponsored outfit for the full campaign, which gets underway on the last weekend of March (28&29th) at Donington Park and features some of the country’s most iconic tracks including Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Knockhill and the high-speed Thruxton. After positive experiences of testing a 911 during the off-season, the 18-year-old is raring to get going in the Carrera Cup. “I’m delighted to have signed with Brookspeed,” Mark explained. “They are a great bunch of guys and I’m sure we will be able to achieve some good results together this season." Mark will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of previous series champions in moving up to even higher levels of sportscar racing, with names such as World Endurance Championship race-winner Charlie Eastwood and endurance racing star Richard Westbrook having tasted success. He said: “Carrera Cup GB is one of the best single-make series in the world and I’m looking forward to showcasing my talent in such a competitive championship. The car seems great to drive and I’m sure myself and the Brookspeed team will be able to get up to speed quickly once the season gets underway." The 2020 Porsche Carrera Cup GB will be broadcast live on ITV4 and online on the ITV Hub, with regular updates from each round on Mark’s social media channels.
