For round 2 in the Italian Formula 4 Championchip on the Imola racing track it was a difficult race for everyone with the track getting wet just before the start, fitting of rain tires by everyone, rolling start and the safety car entry twice. In the end the podium sees Edgar, Crawford and Rosso, the Italian also first in the Rookie classification.
During the reconnaissance lap the rain intensifies and the teams return to change tires from slick to rain. The restart is then launched behind the safety car, which for a series of laps allows the young talents of the Italian F4 Championshiop powered by Abarth to get used to the difficult conditions of the increasingly wet track.
Jonny Edgar starts from pole, followed by Jack Crawford (both Van Amersfoort Racing - Red Bull Junior Team), Andrea Rosso (Cram Motorsprot) and Sebastian Montoya (Prema Powerteam).About 16' from the end of the race, the SC steps aside and finally there is the rolling restart, where Edgar, Crawfort and Rosso parade, while Gabriel Bortoleto (Prema Powerteam) overtakes team mate Sebastian Montoya, who is also passed by Dino Beganovic (Prema Powerteam). At this point the track is completely wet and the visibility is very low due to the water raised by the single-seaters.
In the meantime, Dexter Patterson (Bhai Tech Racing and Sauber Academy) goes off track with 13 minutes remaining and the safety car must enter to be able to recover the car from a dangerous position. At 6'20" to the end of the race another rolling restart with Crawford who attacks Edgar from very close at the end of the straight, but without success. In the meantime Beganovic makes a nice overtaking on Bortoleto.Another safety car following a contact and consequent spin of the two drivers between Hamda Al Qubaisi (Aby Dhabi RAcing) and Valint Bence (Van Amersfoort Racing).
At the restart Crawford attacks Edgar again exactly as in the previous occasion, but the result does not change. Brawl between Gabriele Minì (Prema Powerteam) and his teammates, Beganovic and Bortoleto. Edgar wins over Chadwick and Rosso, first of the Rookies, and followed by Beganociv and Minì, second and third in the Rookie ranking.
