Since the beginning of the 90s, the Italian Alessandro Manetti has made an impact on the highest level of kart racing. Three times FIA Karting European Champion between 1991 and 2007, double FIA Karting World Champion in Formula A and Formula Super A, his talent and the care with which he has maintained his physical condition have allowed him to stay at the top for many years both in the direct drive categories and at the wheel of a gearbox kart for different brands. He created his own team, Manetti Motorsport, in 2018, achieving very convincing results since last year with a growing number of drivers. In an interview conducted just after mid-June 2020, he shares his concerns as head of a private team.

A former KZ driver, Sandro Lorandi created the Babyrace team to support his sons Alessio and Leonardo in their debut in kart racing. With the good results, the team quickly grew to become one of the most successful at international level. Alessio won the first CIK-FIA KF-Junior World Championship in 2013 in Bahrain. Despite the transition of his two sons to single-seater racing, Sandro Lorandi continues to satisfy his passion for motor sport by training young drivers for high-level competition at the Babyrace Driver Academy. At the beginning of June 2020, he takes stock of the upcoming resumption of competition as the COVID-19 situation improves day by day.

Coming from a family strongly involved in kart racing, the young Dutchman Marijn Kremers found the Holy Grail at the age of 21 by being crowned 2019 FIA Karting World Champion - KZ on the Lonato circuit (ITA). He then made the choice to turn to Motorsport before his plans were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He takes stock of the situation at the beginning of June 2020.

The ASN of Sweden, Svenska Bilsportförbundet, has informed the CIK-FIA that the organiser of the Swedish Competition of the FIA Karting European Championship - OK and Junior has had to resign itself to cancel the event scheduled from 9th to 12th July 2020 in Kristianstad (SWE) due to circumstances regarding the COVID-19.

A former top-level kart driver, Joakim Ward has diversified his activities since the creation of his company in 1991. In particular, he manages the import and distribution of several brands in Sweden and neighbouring countries and has developed his own range of rental karts.

Due to the complex situation surrounding the restart of karting events, have the organisation decided together with the local club to cancel the First round of the 2020 Champions of the Future which was set to take place the 25-28 of June 2020.

Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic, Sweden chose a different path to its European neighbours. The Swedish government informs and makes recommendations without imposing them, showing great confidence in individual responsibility. For the time being, the self-discipline of the Swedes seems to be quite effective, as the disease is no more widespread than in European countries that have strictly enforced lockdown. As everywhere else, the development of the situation remains difficult to predict.

CIK FIA karting president Felipe Massa spends his time in lockdown in Formula E's Race at Home Challenge. In his simulator at home the Brazilian driver teaches his son Felipinho how to drive. The 10 year old driver is picking up every little detail. Watch the great video below.

A professional driver with the Italian manufacturer IPK, in the Formula K colours, the Frenchman Jeremy Iglesias has been racing at a high level for more than 12 years.  Three times FIA Karting European Championship vice-champion in KZ, he is one of the most respected drivers in the paddock thanks to his recognised talent and his unanimously appreciated fair play. As deconfinement is gradually spreading across Europe, at the beginning of May 2020 he speaks about the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vega S.r.L., a leading manufacturer of tyres for competition karting, has been strongly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Its headquarters and main factory are located in northern Italy in Saronno in the province of Varese. Vega also has another production site in the south of France. At the beginning of May 2020, Paolo and Stefano Mantese both gave their views and analyses on the situation of Vega and kart racing in general.​

Frenchman Bertrand Pignolet is at the head of one of the world's leading kart manufacturers. The Sodikart company, founded by Gildas Mérian, divides its activity between rental karting and manufacturing competition chassis. Sodi karts have shone at the highest international level in KZ and KZ2 while increasing their presence in all other categories. Sodikart is also involved in the organisation of races through its 3MK Events department. This interview with Bertrand Pignolet was conducted in April 2020 while COVID-19 was paralysing a large part of the planet.

Happy birthday to Felipe Massa! The Brazilian driver turns 39 today. The Sao Paulo born started his karting career in 1990 at the age of 9. Soon it become clear he was made for Formule One. Between 2002 and 2017 he spent 15 seasons in Formule One for the likes of Sauber, Ferrari and Williams.

A newly formed series by RGMMC to promote and develop the CIK-FIA karting classes, Mini 60, OK-Junior, OK and KZ2. Due to the current situation Round 1 which was to be held in Germany is now officially off the calendar and replaced with Round 3 in Autódromo Internacional do Algarve Portugal. RGMMC are proud to launch the new calendar of the series in 2020 with 3 events.

Due to the global health concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus), the CIK-FIA has modified the FIA Karting 2020 sporting calendar accordingly. The Competition of Genk (BEL) counting for the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 and for the FIA Karting Academy Trophy initially scheduled for 18^th-21st June has been postponed to 3^rd-6th September.

A new European venue will be selected for 2020, while Birigui will be back on the calendar next year.

As all the sectors of International sports, including F1 and football, karting has to face the Covid-19 emergency trying to evaluate all the options available to save the season, despite still there are no certainties on the time needed to end this sanitary emergency and all the restrictions imposed by the Governments of all over the globe.

The CIK-FIA homologation process for chassis, brakes and bodywork, which represents about 110 products and about 50 manufacturers from 10 countries, is due to start on 1st August 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most nations in Europe and around the world are facing production difficulties and it will be difficult, if not impossible, for all manufacturers to complete the development of their new products and put them into production before August. In light of these exceptional circumstances, the CIK-FIA has decided to strongly support the industry and the future of karting by automatically extending the validity of all currently homologated products (chassis, brakes, bodywork) for one year until 31st December 2021. Manufacturers will therefore have the possibility of homologating a new product or to re-homologate it during the 2021 homologation process.
