VRD Racing's Hugo Schwarze steered clear of chaos in the final GB3 Championship race at Zandvoort, passing Elite Motorsport's Will Macintyre early on and then surviving two safety car restarts to claim his first single-seater victory.

A new championships coordinator has taken up his duties at the start of the 2025 season. The 49-year-old Dane Jesper Carlsen comes to the job with a wealth of motor sport experience. A kart driver for over a decade, including a Danish Championship to and excellent results in the CIK-FIA European Championship in the 90’s, Jesper Carlsen continued his career in the sport by winning the Danish Formula Ford Championship, before going on to shine in Formula 3 and the Porsche Supercup. Professionally, his skills have led him to work in many fields: marketing and sponsorship consultant, coach and manager of young drivers, championship promoter, team manager, public relations, TV consultant and TV content producer.

The opening event of the WSK Euro Series at the Leopard Circuit Viterbo was won by Hedfors (MINI Gr.3), Godschalk (MINI U10), Xie (OK-NJ), Domain (OKJ), Scognamiglio (OK-N) and Costoya (OK).

The weather remained sunny in the Valencia region, with temperatures rising for the day's Qualifying Heats. Drivers and machines were put through their paces in Saturday's 13 races, which produced a large number of passes and twists and turns. In the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship, Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand in KZ and Maksim Orlov in KZ2 retained the leads they had gained in Qualifying. They will need to consolidate their positions in the Super Heats on Sunday morning, followed by the Finals, if they are to continue their winning run. In the Academy Trophy - Junior, Ecuador's Julian Rivera Salas took over from Mexico's Luis Fer Nunez at the top of the intermediate standings.

Patrick Heuzenroeder claimed a first GB3 Championship victory both for himself and the Xcel Motorsport team in the first race of the weekend at Zandvoort. The Australian rebuffed a challenge off the line from Hitech TGR's Deagen Fairclough, and then put himself out of DRS reach across the opening couple of laps.

After the thrilling and spectacular first part of the season with the five rounds of the WSK Super Master Series, the time has come for the highly anticipated start of the WSK Euro Series. The first round will be held at the Leopard Circuit Viterbo from May 13th to 17th. The final phase will take place on Saturday.

After extremely competitive Qualifying sessions, pole positions were awarded to Spaniard Pedro Hiltbrand in KZ, Maksim Orlov in KZ2 and Mexican Luis Fer Nunez in the Junior Academy. The Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship for gearbox categories and the FIA Karting Academy Trophy got off to the best possible start.
 

The heats end with final phase qualification on Saturday 17th May. Prefinals from 9:50am and Finals from 1:30pm on Live TV Streaming.

Hitech TGR's Deagen Fairclough was fastest for the second successive session on Friday afternoon, but after topping session two by three thousandths of a second, it was even closer in the final practice, as the Brit led Patrick Heuzenroeder by 0.002s this time around.
