After the initial morning 20 minutes warm up for the four participating categories (SKF, KZ2, FK2 & FK3) in CIK-FIA approved championship (WSK World Series final round)…, the adrenaline and enthusiasm was visibly increasing between all participating drivers as reflected by their driving styles and ever increasing speed….
The warm up period had been followed with 10 minutes timed practice, which witness more focused driving consistency and faster lap times in each category…
The third day's intermediate classification heats was divided to three heats per each category, SKF category, the top competition witnessed a surprise with the Dutch driver Nyck De Vries (Zanardi Parilla Vega) after he got some mechanical problems in his kart's engine, he moved from the leading position and recording best times in the free practices to the 10th position, while the French driver Arnaud Kozlinski (CRG Maxter Vega) came first in the last two heats. "Driving on Ghibli Raceway circuit is so professional… if you miss-measured your driving distance with 5 cm you may go easily out of the track, which will cost you great seconds or force you to lose your race" said current World Champion KOZLINSKI.
In KZ2 category – the strongest engines with 6 gearboxes the competitions went in deferent level, speed and overtaking was the theme of the classification heats which ended by recording the Belgian driver RICK DREEZEN (Tony Kart Vortex Dunlop) in the leading position, " the competition between the top five drivers was so hard and lap times so close to each others, but I wish by starting tomorrow from the front row to keep the lead." said DREEZEN.
Meanwhile his first competitor the top standing driver in the previous rounds, the Belgian driver JONATHAN THONAN (CRG Matrex Dunlop) came in 4th position.
The most attractive category in this championship KF2 witnessed today great adrenaline driving style between all drivers, English Driver LUKE VARLEY (Tony Kart Vortex vega) brake the expectations by finishing the classification heats in first position, while Italian Driver IGNAZIO D'AGOSTO (Tony Kart Vortex Vega) – the top standing position in the previous rounds – came in third position.
On the other hand the Egyptian / Libyan team members (Tarek Khedr, Wary Tatanaki and Mohamed Hamdy) respectively, did their best in their first drive in CIK kart classes with (CRG Matrex Vega) team package in WSK championships … as they are only used to driving in Rotax championships.
Juniors Category (KF3) witness great and fast competitions between drivers, Dutch driver Max Verstappen (CRG Maxter Dunlop) assured his consistency and fast driving in front of his competitors, while Japanese driver Takashi Kasai followed in second position…
"After some important mechanical changes, we assured the output speed and RPM of my engine and my kart performance as well. Which help me to be in the front of all other driver and keep my kart in good shape" said a confident VERSTAPPEN showing a maturity beyond his age.
"Tomorrow WSK World Series Final will end it's festival on Ghibli Raceway with pre-finals, Drivers parade, finals, prize giving and a post race press conference as well.
