Martijn Reuvers of Geruco Motorsport: "This is another excellent result"
Published by Bas Kaligis 28 oktober 2009 13:12 - Print | | Geruco Motorsport’s Borja Alvarez successfully defended his Spanish KZ2 crown at the third and final round of the 2009 Spanish Karting Championship hosted by his team’s home track at Circuito Campillos, Malaga over the weekend.
The 19-year old from the Canary Islands started on the front row for the final after finishing the pre-final in second place, to take the chequered flag and secure the race honours and the championship win in his 5th victory from six possible finals during the season.
An excited Alvarez said following his well-deserved success, “I am very happy to win the Spanish championship again after being runner-up in 2007 and last year the champion! This weekend was actually really hard because we did not find the best performance until Sunday morning. I want to give special thanks to my mechanic Aldo Fattore, everyone at Geruco Motorsport and especially Martin Reuvers for his support over the last three years that we have achieved such excellent results. I’d also like to thank my personal sponsors and my family for always supporting me.”
The Malaga-based team also claimed an impressive 3rd place in the KZ2 series, with Jon Tanko just missing out on taking the runner’s up trophy after being on pole position. Their results clearly showed the strength of the Geruco Intrepid line-up.
“This is another excellent result for our team,” declared team manager Martin Reuvers, “being our fourth win in this class in the last five years. It’s the first year we have just concentrated on the KZ class, which has given us more outstanding performance in all races. I want to congratulate Borja and also Jon, who’s in his first year with Geruco. I want to say special thanks to our mechanics and our drivers for this season, and also thank our partners for their support every race; Tec Sav Engines for their good engines and Thierry for his good work, Aldo Fattore as mechanic and for IMAF Racing Seats for their quality seats, and VPD Racing for their logistics help. Without all of these people, this victory would not been possible. Thanks to all!” |
