ROTAX JUNIOR MAX - Josh Webster [GB] – Strawberry Racing/Tonykart
“It means absolutely loads to win this! All my family have worked so hard and it’s not been an easy year but we’ve managed to scrape through on points. I must thank my sponsors: 9 Telecom, Melbek Technology, Norfolkline Ferries, Flying Saucer and Jason at JLF Designs. Thanks also to Strawberry Racing – Warwick Ringham, David Gregory and Mark Salmon, and finally my dad for being my mechanic. I’m looking forward to the Grand Finals. Last year, I didn’t do so well and I think it was because I wasn’t as good a driver in the racing, but it will be a good test to see. Next year I’ll be back to race in seniors.”
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Matthew Parry [GB] – Paul Carr Racing/Kosmic
“I’ve enjoyed the racing here at Salbris and pleased to be the Rookie of the Year, which means I can go to the Rotax Grand Finals in December. But, naturally I’m still disappointed that I didn’t finish higher up in the championship. Ed was the most consistent driver throughout the weekend and fully deserved to win.”
ROTAX SENIOR MAX - Luke Varley [GB] – Strawberry Racing/Tonykart
“To be honest… it hasn’t really sunk in yet! It’s been tough staying consistent; I’ve has some ups and downs really – good in Zuera where I took the win then not so good in Sosnova, but it’s come together now. The team’s worked extremely hard and been really strong with Joseph [Reilly] taking 2nd and Josh [Webster] winning in Juniors. I have to say a big thank you to Warwick Ringham, David Gregory, Paul Spencer and David Young my mechanic, and everyone in the Strawberry Racing team, plus Ogden Motorsport because the engines have been brilliant! Thanks also to my sponsor Andy Scales, and my mum and dad. Last year wasn’t so good but I was given an opportunity to do this and it’s been great! I’m really excited about qualifying for the Rotax Grand Finals and it will be an honour to race for Great Britain and for the team. I could be the World number 1!”
ROTAX MAX MASTERS - Jerome Bourquard [F] – BRK/Tonykart
“I’m very happy because I was able to win the championship after I had a good pre-final, which was all that I needed for the points. I used my new tyres to have the best chance and then was very lucky to win the pre-final as well. I was under no stress in the final knowing that I had already won the championship and just wanted to enjoy the racing. At the Grand Finals in Egypt, my goal will be to qualify if I can for the final [in the Max class].”
ROTAX DD2 - Ralph Odendaal [RSA] – Korridas/Intrepid
“I was a bit upset about the last race and getting a penalty for the start, so it feels strange not being on podium but winning the championship. I have to say thanks to Team Korridas – Rui and Super Mario for my engines, Intrepid Force Rotax – Ernst and Steve for their support, and especially my parents. I’m pretty excited about getting to the Grand Finals again, which is my fifth time, so I’m hoping I can have a good result this year.”
ROTAX DD2 MASTERS - Danny Brand [NL] – VZ Racing/Maddox
“I don’t have words to describe how I feel about winning this – I’m speechless! I want to thank the whole team and Patrick Vasterman for giving me the opportunity to race this year. I’m looking forward now to racing in Sharm el Sheikh… it’s a bonus! I’ll try to manage a top 10. It will be my last race as I’ll be training some young drivers and running VZ Racing with Patrick.”
