Hattrick for Josh Hart and Team V
Published by Bas Kaligis 12 september 2009 08:33 - Print | | Intrepid Force Rotax senior driver Josh Hart has claimed his third consecutive pole position at round 4 of the 2009 Rotax Euro Challenge being held at the Sologne Karting circuit in France. In doing so, the New Zealander has created ‘Euro’ history as the only Senior Max driver to secure three pole positions in a row in one season of the Rotax Championship.
Hart topped the time sheet for the first Senior Max group 0.037 ahead of the current championship leader, making lap 3 his quickest. With the competition extremely close, almost the entire field of 59 drivers was covered by just one second. The fastest qualifier in the following session came within 0.022 seconds of the 23-year old’s best lap, but in the heat of the afternoon, the time was unable to be matched.
“It was another fantastic day for us. To qualify pole for a third round is a great achievement for the team. It shows the speed we have had all year. I am really looking forward to the racing and having done some extra races leading up to this round, feel confident in the kart. The Intrepid chassis and HRS engine combination is working very well. I would like to thank my mechanic Steve again for all his work this leading up to this week and IFR’s team sponsors. Hopefully this time we can turn it into a win!”
The qualifying heats determine the grid positions for Sunday’s pre-final, with the 2009 champions also being decided as a result. Hart sits in equal 3rd with Uniq Racing’s Karol Dabski, also racing the Intrepid Kart and being supported by IFR this round in Salbris.
