Waterloo for Mario Farnbacher at DKM
Published by Bas Kaligis 25 augustus 2009 19:59 - Print | | The last weekend (22./23.08.09) the final round of the German Karting Championship was held at Hahn. For Mario Farnbacher the Hunsrückring always had been a successful track but this time it turned out to be a Waterloo.
After Farnbacher was quick in the free practice sessions on Friday, the following day went not according to plan. In qualifying he only took tenth position. But the upcoming heats brought an improvement. In two tough races he finished fourth and seventh, which meant starting rank eight for the sprint race on Sunday.
But the races on Sunday became a disaster. In sprint race the Tonykart driver was driving among the top ten, when he was pushed around by an opponent. Farnbacher dropped back to the end of the grid and finally took place 15 in the end. In the final race he caught up bravely but then a group of drivers collided just in front of Farnbacher. Mario was not able to find a way through and joined the crash. Nevertheless he could continue his race but saw chequered flag only on rank 17, although lap times were fast enough for a podium rank.
„I am totally disappointed. The weekend was a catastrophe. I was quick enough to take a top result. Now I even lost my third rank in the championship by only one point”, Farnbacher explained frustrated.
Now there is not much time for a break. The coming up weekend Mario is heading for the last round of the ADAC Kart Masters at Kerpen. |
