TIME FOR THE FINALE IN THE WSK INTERNATIONAL SERIES.
A super-challenge in KZ2 is in store for us on the South Garda circuit in Lonato, the hosting track of the final round of the WSK International Series 2007 that will take place in two weeks' time. Forè and Piccini (Maranello), along with Manetti and Toninelli (Intrepid), will put the new champion Thonon (CRG) on test.
The WSK International Series has reached its final round of the season, the closing date of a continental tour that has taken the best names in emerging Karting across the best-known European circuits. The weekend of 29th June-1st July the series organised by WSK Promotion will award the remaining "crowns" of each category on the South Garda International Circuit in Lonato (BS), the host of the fifth and last round in the 2007 season.
The other sessions to be held in Italy have taken place in Sarno (SA) the 18th March and in Muro Leccese (LE) on May 13th, while the sessions held abroad have 'travelled' to the brand new Spanish circuit in Zuera next to Zaragoza (15th April) and to the French super-awarded circuit of Salbris (3rd June). In France the Belgian ace-high Jonathan Thonon (CRG-Maxter-Vega) was awarded the victory in KZ2 one session in advance, completing in this way the WSK with his own team. CRG, that has so clearly imposed itself in this category, is one of the most important karting team of the WSK 2007 season. However, more big names in karting makes will be present at the event in Lonato, which anticipates a memorable finale.
THE BIG RUN OF KZ2
If the classification is already in favour of Thonon, the KZ2 race scheduled in two weeks' time in Lonato will have two reasons of interest, thanks to the super-challenge among the best drivers in this category. World Cup 125 champion Davide Forè will be in Lonato one of Thonon's hardest competitors for the title. Together with Forè, in the same official team of Maranello-Maxter-Vega, will be the multi -awarded Alessandro Piccini. Intrepid team replied in the most reasonable way: by sending its own champions to Lonato, Alessandro Manetti and Roberto Toninelli, both driving their own Intrepid-TM-Vega jewels. The others top-quality CRG drivers will not sit and wait. They are Portuguese Armando Parente (coming from his victory in the Salbris race) and Lithuanian Kazimieras Vasiliauskas, who has been awarded the first international podium for a driver from his country. Perhaps, even more eager to win will be their team-mate, the American Gary Carlton, who is the current champion of the Superkart USA and is willing to prove himself also on European circuits
THE CROWNS TO BE AWARDED. If the KZ2 race is expected to be breathtaking, equally surprising will be the races in the other categories, that will award the final victory: in KF3 English Jack Harvey (Maranello-XTR-Dunlop) is leading the classification ahead of Finnish Aaro Vainio (Maranello-XTR-Dunlop) and of Matteo Viganò (Birel-XTR-Dunlop). Last plunge will be for Alessandro Kouzkin (Tony-Vortex-Dunlop), fourth in the classification. In KF2 Belgian Yannik De Brabander (Maranello-Parilla-Bridgestone) intends to keep the leadership, despite the last "traps" by Spanish Javier Tarancon (FA Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) and Miki Monras (Maranello-Parilla-Bridgestone).
The TV brodcasting of Lonato will be, as usual, covered by RaiSport (satellite and digital) during the 40 minutes’ special TV, on Friday July 6th at 17:30. More reports on Odeon Motori (on Odeon TV, Tuesdays at 20.05 and Wednesdays at 13.30) and on Stop and Go, on satellite UnoSat - Sky 862. Fridays at 21:30.
