Mario Farnbacher's performance unrewarded at Oschersleben
Published by Bas Kaligis 28 april 2009 09:12 - Print | | Last weekend (25./26. April) Mario Farnbacher started for the opening round of the German Karting Championship 2009 at Oschersleben. All told the young talent made a good job in the international grid of Germany’s “Premier League”.After the man from Lichtenau won the ADAC Kart Masters race a few weeks ago, Mario aimed to repeat this success. But the first results in the free practice sessions were far away from the top. In the qualifying Farnbacher even took a disappointing 14th position.
Just in time for the upcoming heats one changed the adjustment of the carburettor and suddenly he was able to keep the pace of the top. Starting from behind Mario caught up bravely and took ranks six and eight. “It worked better indeed, although it was not perfect yet”, Mario explained after the heats.
For the sprint race on Sunday the Tonykart driver took the ninth starting rank, which he was able to improve in a tough race. After he saw the chequered flag, the “auto, moto und sport”-Junior reached a brilliant fourth position.
That meant a starting rank in the second row for the decisive final race. But already in the pre-start phase all chances faded for the KSM Motorsport driver. His engine did not work at once, which made him start from the very back of the grid. Nevertheless he faught bravely and overtook one opponent after the other. In the end he took place 16, showing his great performance.
„I am really disappointed. The weekend did not start very well, then we improved dramatically and in the final race a podium could have been possible – at least a rank among the top seven”, Mario stated afterwards.
Now the youngster has to look forward. Upcoming weekend he starts at the Qualification round of the European Karting Championship at Sosnova (CZ). |
