Taylor en Pyttlik in line-up DR Kart UK
Published by Bas Kaligis 6 maart 2009 12:39 - Print | | They may be the dark horses on this year’s Super 1 grid but DR Racing Kart UK Managing Director Steve Green believes his signings will be competitive from the start. “I’d like to welcome Tom Pyttlik and Jason Taylor to the team”, Steve said from his Surrey HQ. “Tom made his 177 Super 1 debut last year and a frustrating season didn’t really allow him to show his true worth. However, he was instantly on the pace in his first test with us and we expect him to be inside the top ten all season.”
Tom, from Market Rasen in Lincolnshire, said “The DR (J90) chassis is really good. I tested it at Whilton and straightaway the balance of the kart was spot on. We made no set-up adjustments and it was consistently quick.”
Speaking about Jason, Steve commented “I’m very excited about him. He’s an unknown quantity here in England, but in Northern Ireland he’s one of the top 177 drivers. He’s really looking forward to the challenge of taking on the best in Super 1 and, like Tom, we believe that he’ll quickly adjust and be quick in no time at all.”
Jason says, “The 177 class was introduced into Northern Ireland five years ago and in that time I’ve won the Ulster Cup every year and the Irish Kart Gran Prix four times. I’m really looking forward to getting out on the DR chassis and hoping to do well for myself and the team.”
The team will return to Whilton Mill on 18 March for further pre-season testing. Drivers looking to contest the British Super 1 and Stars of Tomorrow series in the Rotax or KF classes are invited to join the team at Whilton and test J90 or M92 chassis.
“We have supported drives available for the right individuals. The Whilton test will be a great opportunity to discuss these, try the superb DR Kart and hear what we have to offer,” Steve said.
