Technical responsibility is entrusted to Ilario Savani, while the three official drivers were confirmed: Ceccon and Basz in the KF2 and Piccioni in the KF1. During these days, Robert Kubica has defined the RK Line Official Racing Team organization, entrusting the technical responsibility for the team to Ilario Savani after a first phase, up to right before the holidays, in which the Polish driver was defining the agreement from the technical point of view with Pietro Sassi.
This solution could not find any definitive feasibility due to some problems of a logistical nature. Still in the environment of the Birel orbit teams, Kubica was able to reach a collaboration agreement with Ilario Savani (owner of Savani Competition, an external Birel team), who enthusiastically accepted the role of team manager for the new team. Nothing changes, however, in the strategic plans outlined in the previous months. The Polish driver will always be the first managerial line for the team and for driver definition, while the team’s logistic headquarters will only move a few km to Carpi, remaining in Emilia Romagna.
The three drivers chosen up to this point were also confirmed: Antonio Piccioni for the KF1 along with Kevin Ceccon and Karol Basz for the KF2. The door still remains open for a “hit” in the KF3, a category in which they are also evaluating some potential candidates through some tests that are scheduled in the upcoming days. Even the race program that was announced will stay the same and foresees the participation in the main International trials, including the WSK Series.
As Robert Kubica states about the agreement with Ilario Savani: “First of all I must thank Pietro Sassi for his collaboration up to the present, but unfortunately some problems of a logistical nature that emerged during the month of December kept us from defining am agreement that was functional for both parties. So, together we decided to evaluate some alternative solutions for team management and, also thanks to our collaboration with Birel, the possibility emerged of involving Ilario Savani. Therefore, the logistical base for the team was moved only a few kilometres to the Savani structure that quickly proved itself to be enthusiastic and collaborative. Nothing changes, on the other hand, from the point of view of the drivers and the competitive programs that were already planned.”
Satisfaction for the agreement is also expressed by Ilario Savani: “I am proud to be able to collaborate with Robert who has always had a special rapport with karting. Thanks to the possibility of managing first rate drivers on the track and the technical collaboration with Birel, I see a great opportunity for my career as team manager in this operation. I will do my best to organize the team in a way that is both up to expectations and that is normal to entrust to a top team.” |
