Every year the best Rotax Max drivers gather for the Rotax Max Grand Finals. Already 8 Grand Finals have been held at various venues, and kartXpress.com has always been there to report this biggest karting event. For this years World Finals 216 drivers from more than 50 countries and five continents will be in Italy, where the 9th ROTAX MAX CHALLENGE GRAND FINALS will take place on the impressive track of La Conca – Muro Leccese.
Who is the favourite? You can’t tell... It is just one race... everything needs to be just fine, the right set-up, no crash, no mechanical failure and the best form of the driver is what it takes.
But we can say that the regular front runners from the Rotax Max Euro Finals will be in contention. In Seniors, European Champion Chris Lock, Ben Cooper and Josh Hart took the top-three positions.
Defending World Champion from Estonia, Kevin Korjus won the Junior tile as well in the Euro Challenge ahead of Toni Alarcon from Spain and Japan’s Ryuuya Fujie.
South-African Leeroy Poulter, Dominik Kraihamer and Denis Thum are the three aces from the Euro Challenge in DD2. Defending World Champion DD2 is Pier-Luc Ouellette from Canada. He won all heats and finals last year in Al Ain and definitely will be strong in Italy.
As always we can expect strong drivers from Great-Britain, South-Africa, Australia, New-Zealand, and The Netherlands. Also pilots from Asia and South-America are competitive. Russia and the Baltic states are becoming stronger and stronger. Japan is always a threat. Team USA and Team Canada are sending a big and strong squad as usual. What can the Italians do on their home oil? In the KF classes Italy has the strongest pilots, but in Rotax Max it is a different story. Maybe it is time for a change.. But you can’t tell who ‘s gonna be the winner, because there will always be a great surprise. The level of Rotax Max karting has grown strongly and the challenge is more competitive then ever.
The good thing is that we will see drivers from Africa, Asia, Europe, South and North-America in the Worlds biggest and most sporting kart-event. It all looks very promising and we are looking forward to an exciting Grand Finals.
Bas Kaligis and KartXpress.com has been to all previous World Finals and we are also in Italy. We will make several updates each day! Stay tuned! |
