Christian Klien back in the kart to join Intrepid Force Rotax
Published by Bas Kaligis 9 september 2008 18:23 - Print | | INTREPID FORCE ROTAX has hosted a corporate Karting event at the Speedworld circuit near in Austria for one of their valued sponsors – ‘Safe Invest’ [in conjunction with their partner EPM], that included official BMW Formula 1 Team test driver Christian Klien back in a Kart for the first time in five years.
The SAFE-UNION “Race Against Christian” Kart day was based around the former Austrian karter setting the ‘best lap to beat’ with the invited business partners, associates, friends and local media then putting their driving skills to the test to match his lap time. Klien became a Safe Invest supported driver when he competed in the Le Mans 24 Hour race earlier this season.
As another of the Safe Invest race drivers proudly supported by the Austrian company, IFR’s Rotax DD2 Kart driver Dominik Kraihamer was also on-track mixing it with Klien, together with his s-berg Racing Lamborghini team mate from the FIA GT3 European championship Hans Knauss. Most of the IFR team members were on hand to help out, doing an excellent job to make their first ever event of this kind a brilliant success. The Salzburg-based team’s young Karting drivers displayed their driving skills in between the timed sessions.
IFR owner Norbert Kraihamer expressed his gratitude and thanks for the huge effort manager Ernst Penninger and all the team gave towards the organization and support of the SAFE-UNION event.
“We had 2 separate events; the "Race Against Christian" for media people and friends, as well as - under the same title, one for the 40 top Safe Invest Distribution Managers, coming from 9 different countries.”
“I am more than happy with the outcome. The Intrepid Force Rotax team proved to be very professional in their preparation and execution of a public event - which definitely was a new experience for all of us. The fact that even some of the race drivers suddenly appeared to offer their help, underlines the strong team spirit existing - even after some personal changes we were facing; highly encouraging.
“Both parties gave me extremely positive feedback and just the fact that the ORF (Austrian Television, by far the market leader in Austria) confirmed to broadcast a small feature on the event directly before the F1 GP Race in Spa is self explaining about what our team has achieved.”
Safe Invest driver Christian Klien claimed it was a successful event that he thoroughly enjoyed being part of for Safe Invest and its associates, together with IFR.
“It was a really good event for the Safe-Union partners and staff. The people were able to get a good feel for Motorsport and it was a great experience for them, especially to have some real race drivers there to share it. I’m sure they’ll always remember this and they all got out of the kart with big smiles on their faces.”
“I enjoyed the time at the track for the day seeing that I haven’t been in a real race kart like this since 2003. I had a lot of fun and it brought back some good memories from my own Karting days. It did take me a while to get used to driving again, but by the end of the day I was going okay and faster as well… so I was happy.
“For Safe-Union it was important that everyone enjoys the experience and gets the maximum benefit from this type of event. I really believe it was a great success.”
