The couple Tony Kart and Marco Ardigò have confirmed himself European Champion during the last appointment at Braga, Portugal. The weekend has been characterized by strong emotions and by a very tough fight between our Racing Team and the very persevering rivals.
The achievement has been crowned by the success in the KF2 of the young driver of the Tony Kart Junior Team Flavio Camponeschi. The newborn Tony Kart Junior Team, after few months from its foundation, takes away a well deserved European victory.
In KF1 our drivers Gary Catt and Marco Ardigò compared with Arnaud Kozlinski (Crg-Maxter). The French driver won the first race, taking temporarily the lead of the ranking with 69 points. Marco, after the first race ended in fifth position, had 62 points and Gary 65.
The height of the perseverance and of the emotions was in the second race. The Tony Kart Racing Team worked very hard and to the best of his ability to give to his drivers the best equipment and, at the end of the second final, the well deserved prize has arrived. Marco Ardigò finished in third position, Kozliski retired and finally arrived the continental poker!
Flavio Camponechi, the new king of the European KF2 and young emerging driver, keep an habitué of the victories like Marco Arigò company. With the Tony Kart- Vortex equipment and the support of a team like the Tony Kart Junior Team managed by the highly capable Poul Spencer, Flavio dominated all the weekend, making the pole position, winning the heats, the first and the second final. With a score like this every commentary is needless.
Giacomo Aliprandi - Tony Kart Racing Team, Team Manager:
“This title has been suffered! This win is entirely thanks to the team and to the equipment, always up to the situation, so Marco put his skill and the personal poker has arrived.”
Paul Spencer - Team Manager Tony Kart Junior Racing Team:
“I am very excited, it is not easy to understand how I am happy for the Team and for Flavio! We have a fantastic team and a great equipment that already enable us to gain such victories in our first season. In the Junior team we have young drivers on which we have invested and which are already repaying with these good results. We will continue to work hard and to the drivers I want to say to keep it up!”
Marco Ardigò - Tony Kart Racing Team driver, KF1European Championship 2008:
“I am very happy, we believed on it to the end. Even if the rivals made a team game in the first race, I started the second final with a great feeling for the fighting right to the end. It was very hard, the rivals had a little advantage, but we didn’t loose heart and we fought to the end. It is necessary to finish both races to win, and I was ready to profit by a mistake. It is a great satisfaction for Vortex as well. We worked very hard and we will keep working looking to the World Championship, but the equipment is really good.”
How much emotion this forth European Title gave to you?
“A lot, really a lot! I suffered very much during the weekend and when I turned off the engine I relaxed myself, and this time, contrary to the 2006 and 2007 victories, I had tears on my eyes. I am very happy for me and for the team. We were lucky too, I can’t deny it, but I was ready to attack.”
When you saw that Kozliski was in trouble, did you understand that you already were the Champion?
“Yes, I did. I made a sign to the box and I knew what I had to do. I noticed that behind me there were Stevens and Bressan, my team- mates, but there wasn’t Gary, struggling for the victory too. I realized that was done... I sighed with relief and I managed the end of the race.”
Flavio Camponeschi - Tony Kart Junior Team driver, KF2European Championship 2008:
“I am very happy, I start to realize the situation only now, after some time from the win. The podium, the party, the press conference, is everything new for me. My team was fantastic and worked perfectly, the equipment was simply excellent. I hadn’t any problem, even if I didn’t know the track, I adapted myself perfectly, keeping the concentration in every moment.” |
