A double victory with Maisano-Heche and four chassis in the first five places: this is the fantastic booty collected by the Intrepid brand in the qualifying race (Western Region) for the European KF3 Championship on 13 July. A real hold-up, which reflects once again Intrepid top performances and reliability.
Intrepid Show at Alcaniz
Only a little more than one third of all participating pilots would be admitted to the European final, so everybody was a bit afraid of this qualifying race. But on the Spanish circuit of Alcaniz, tension and stress were soon replaced by joy for four Junior pilots. These drivers perfectly exploited the qualities of their Intrepid chassis to win hands down their ticket for the final of the European KF3 Championship, which will take place from 5 to 7 September at Varennes sur Allier (France).
In addition to reaching their main objective for the weekend, our four drivers, i.e. Brandon Maisano, Michaël Heche, Adrian Del Rio and Pascal Belmaaziz, made sparks fly in the top positions.
After winning his recent French Champion title, Maisano added yet another victory to his long list of successes. “It was an excellent weekend, despite heavy competition. The Spaniards were at home and they were determined to win, but I imposed my Intrepid-TM at the end of the finals”. After setting the third best time, the French pilot from Intrepid France Team was the leader of the qualifying heats, and then proved to be both fast and calculating in the two finals.
“It was paramount to ensure my presence at the European Championship final in September. I set the best lap in Race 1, but I preferred to secure my second place, instead of taking risks to win. In the second final, I first took the lead of the pack, and then I saw that my team mate Belmaaziz was gaining ground. I knew that if I finished second
behind him, I would reach the first place in the overall ranking. Therefore I preserved that excellent result for Intrepid and the LM Karting Team”.
Unrecognized on the international scene, Pascal Belmaaziz was the revelation of the weekend. The French driver had just changed his equipment and his decision to choose an Intrepid chassis was certainly favourable to him. “It is a very effective chassis” Pascal
stressed. “I quickly adapted to it, it is very easy to drive. Honestly, before coming here I did not expect I would win two heats and then the last final, and that I would end up fifth overall. And again, without the 10-second penalty I was given in Race 1, where I
finished third, I might have won at Alcaniz!”
These performances were confirmed by the competitive attitude shown by Michaël Heche and Adrian Del Rio. Intrepid chassis achieved a double success thanks to the pilot of Intrepid Suisse Team, while the Spanish pilot even won a heat and remained the virtual winner for quite a while. He took the lead of Race 2, but suffered the consequences of a crush at the end of the final and missed the podium. Fourth, Del Rio could have turned Intrepid double victory into a triple success!
Comments by Mirko Sguerzoni, in charge of Intrepid:
“Four Intrepid drivers in the first five places, including a victory: this is a very satisfactory result for us and I would like to congratulate the drivers on their talent and the mastery they showed, as well as their respective team for their competence. I think that at Alcaniz, these pilots did not regret they chose an Intrepid chassis. This encourages us to work harder to continue to propose
high-quality products to drivers”. |
