Mario Farnbacher: "Really a terrible and disappointing weekend"
Published by Bas Kaligis 15 juli 2008 10:13 - Print | | Recent weekend Mario Farnbacher headed for the most important race of the year. At Val Virbrata (I) the qualification for the KF2 European Championship was held. But for Farnbacher nothing went according to plan.
Already in the practice sessions Mario had to deal with the tyres. “Tyres are extremely hard and they need a lot of time to built up grip at all”, Mario stated, reaching 16th quickest time in his qualifying group. In the second qualifying session Mario was not able to take part due to a broken starter. “That was a pity since tyres would have been much better this time”, the Tonykart driver explained.
All told the youngster took rank 30 in the 73 pilots comprising grid. But nothing was over yet. The heats were to come and offered him a good chance to improve his position. But luck was not his side. Three times Mario had to end the race due to technical problems. Only in the very last heat he was able to show his performance by finishing nineth.
So in overall classification Mario missed qualifications for the races on sunday, which meant no ticket for the european final too.
„It was really a terrible and disappointing weekend. But I can’t change it. I am looking forward now and will do my very best next weekend at the DCKM at Liedolsheim”, Mario sums up.
