The new era of Spanish karting has begun today with the WSK international Series that have taken place on the circuit in Zuera, in the outskirts of Saragossa, in its second session of its 2007 series. The local authorities did not want to miss this special occasion. Led by the mayors of the of Zuera and Zaragoza, the highest authorities of the Real Federaciòn Española de Automovilismo, President Mr. Carlos Garcia and Karting and Promotions Delegate Carlos Abella, welcomed the 113 drivers.
The six finals have led to a more precise definition of the classifications of the WSK series, which have found in Thonon (CGRMaxter) a dominator in the class KZ2. The Belgian driver has won both finals easily, starting in pole position thanks to his victories in yesterday's heats. The second position has been awarded to Lituan driver Kazimieras Vasiliauskas (CRGMaxter), in his first podium at an international race, followed in the third position by French Mathias Gallepe (PCRTM) first, then by his teammate, Portuguese Armando Parente. Given that his direct adversary Italian Alessandro Manetti, was absent in Zuera, Thonon has led the classification with hs 85 points, with an advantage of as many as 85 points, with 45 points's distance from the second.
Belgian Yannik De Brabander (MaranelloParilla) has replied at his best to the double victory of Spanish driver Javier Tarancon (FA KartVortex) in the previous session in Sarno (SA). Regardless Tarancon's start in pole position, De Brabander has overtaken pretty soon his adversary in the first final, in a race that he has then won by keeping a good distance from him. The Spaniard has tried to catch up, without, however, reach a second position. A good third position was reached in Final 1 by English James Dixon (MaranelloParilla), who has not changed in the following race. In the second final the podium has been completed by Check driver Zdenek Groman, in a good catch up from his fourth row. Amazing now the challenge offered by the classification, where Tarancon and De Brabander finished both with 80 points.
Incisive but fair, Alessandro Kouzkin (TonyVortex) has achieved his second victory in Zuera, by distancing in the second final a crowded group of 'followers', among which Finnish driver Aaro Vainio (MaranelloXTR) stood out. Both drivers in the first race had to comply with Jack Harvey (MaranelloXTR), winner at the end of a beautiful duel with Kouzkin. On the podium of the Final 2 was Matteo Beretta (BirelXTR). After this victory Kouzkin is leading the classification with 71 points, ahead of Vainio who is following him separated by 8 points. Finally, the Spanish promotional category Cadete, which concluded the programme of the day, saw the double victory of Diego Rodriguez Riley (FA KartParilla) ahead of Bernardo Alvarez Ruiz (MaranelloParilla) in his first race and Moises Soriano
(PCRParila) in the second.
