Ricardo Romkema joins Intrepid Force Rotax
Published by Bas Kaligis 12 april 2007 19:06 - Print | | Senior Max World number 1 Ricardo Romkema has joined with new Intrepid Force Rotax as the official factory driver in his class. The 17-year old from The Netherlands adds yet another accomplished Rotax driver to the recently formed team.
Following the first round of the Rotax Euro Challenge in Salbris, France last month where he finished a credible fifth Ricardo Romkema has signed-up as the factory driver for Intrepid for the remainder of the 2007 season. For the Italian manufacturer it completed the picture, giving Intrepid Force Rotax an official entry in the Rotax Senior, Junior and DD2 categories at the European Championship.
For Romkema, the opportunity to be part of the new Intrepid Force Rotax is very exciting. “It makes me happy to be one of the drivers racing for the factory of a great product. It’s a nice looking chassis and for me it’s easy to drive. It’s also a kart that is not difficult for us to set-up for the racing which helps a lot. It’s just fantastic!” Thinking about his future and having finished on the podium at a round of the European ICC championships last year, Romkema sees the partnership with Intrepid as a positive step towards his Motorsport career.
Intrepid welcomes Romkema’s decision to join the team, recognising the young driver’s talent and achievements as the Senior Champion. For Intrepid Force Rotax manager Ernst Penninger the move to bring him on board only adds to their strength while giving Romkema the direct support he needs to be even more successful. “It’s absolutely a good thing and we are pleased to help promote Ricardo knowing that he is a dedicated and professional driver. Having watched him for sometime now, we believe he has the definite potential to do really well.”
Romkema will continue to work with the team of new Dutch Intrepid importer TKP Holland at all remaining rounds of the Euro Challenge this year, in conjunction with Intrepid Force Rotax.
