With the Winter Cup, the international season is opening for the Tony Kart Junior Team. The Tony Kart Junior Team drivers, led by Paul Spencer, immediately showed their ability, proposing some interesting news from the agonistic point of view and proving that the new team is an important support for the material development.
Flavio Camponeschi won two rounds and during the race he fought for the podium until the last bend, missing the target by only 81 tenth.
The novice driver Gaku Ishiyama, in KF2, worked hard together with the manager Paul Spencer and with the whole staff, proving to be perfectly integrated in the Junior Team. The Japanese driver proved to have a great relationship with the kart, winning a round and the semi-final, in the final Gaku wasn’t frightened by drivers more expert than him and, starting from the second line, he gained a precious 5th place.
Mark Lichtfeld, in KF1, was unlucky. After a stop in the semi-final, the Brit couldn’t show his technical expertise in the final. The Tony Kart Junior Team has also the difficult task to grow up and lead a group of excited and competitive drivers in the category of the youngest ones, the KF3. In this contest the ability as excellent talent scout of the team manager Paul Spencer will be very important.

“I’m satisfied with the first race, the Junior Team seems to be complete and well assorted, we have still to work in the KF3 category, but in KF2 we are strong, here we have won the rounds with Camponeschi and Ishiyama, we started well and were in front, ending the race 4th and 5th classified. I think it’s a positive result and I’m really satisfied…for the moment. We have to keep on working with young drivers, in particular in the KF3 class, and developing the fantastic material used until now.”

“The Junior Team represents a great experience for me, I get on well with everybody in the team and the work method is very good. As first race I can’t complain about it, a 4th place is good, but for next competitions we will try to do even better. Before the Margutti Trophy we will do further tests and then the preparation for the WSK will start, this is a preliminary meeting.”

“I’m satisfied with the race, I had a great support from the team and I want to thank my team-mates for their help. Now I will concentrate on the race in Parma, I like that track very much and I hope to race well, looking at the result gained here, I’m confident it will be possible.” |
