During the winter break, far from the racetracks, days are becoming particularly hectic when speaking of planning the new season. The start of the WSK International Series, at its third edition, is fixed on March 16 th, 2008, in Muro Leccese, Italy. The many novelties at their planning stage gives already the impression that the opening of the season is even forthcoming.
The more important novelty probably concerns the technical plan. WSK Promotion has succeeded in guaranteeing a supply of special compound slick tyres for KF1, the same ones adopted in the CIK FIA events valid for European and World Championships. These special tyres will be available in the 5 events hosting KF1 races, as scheduled in the official calendar. It’s a very interesting opportunity, considering that three of these rounds will take place before the running of CIK FIA championships on the same tracks.
In Muro Leccese, where on March 16 th the 2008 WSK will take the start, on September 21th will be run KF1 World Championship; in turn, Angerville (F) and Mariemburg (B) will host, between March and June, the first two rounds of European Championship, only a few weeks afterward the running of 2 nd and 4 th WSK race. Besides, after the races, it is scheduled the team stay in these circuits in order to carry on further tyres tests.
In the WSK Promotion offices people have worked hardly on 2008 WSK International Series regulations. The final draft text, pending approval from the CIKFIA, is announced rich in original efforts, conceived to make each of the 6 scheduled events more exciting, beginning from Saturday timing practice.
Another important novelty concerns one more time KF1. In this category, at the end of the qualifying practice, it will be run a Superpole, a further session for the fastest ten drivers. These ones will go back to the track one by one to run a flying lap and a timing one in order to compete for the pole position and the first five rows on the grid of the following heat. To the best three classified in the Superpole a supplementary score will be awarded, 3 points to the first, 2 to the second and 1 to the third, valid for the ranking of the season. The others drivers, from the eleventh place downwards, will maintain the score and placement of the first qualifying round.
