The WSK INTERNATIONAL SERIES 2007 has been concluded with a Formula BMW test awarded to Belgian Yannick de Brabnder, in Estoril(P). It was apositive exprerience for the driver from Antwerp, allowed thanks to the cooperation between RedBull and WSK.
The Season 2007 of the WSK International Series can be considered as officially concluded by awarding the more desirable prize. The “award ceremony” was completely special: in a perfect WSK style, aiming to privilege action and dynamism in a race, the Portuguese circuit in Estoril has been the setting of a single-seater test offered to the young talented drivers from the “FIA Authorised Series”.
Thanks to the cooperation between Red Bull and WSK Promotion, a Formula BMW single-seater was at Yannick De Brabander’s disposal, being the winner of WSK International Series in Class KF2, on a Maranello-Parilla from the official team Maranello Kart. In the selection, chosen De Brabander, has not only been taken into consideration the success achieved in WSK: the sixteen years old kid from Antwerp has shown determination and boldness during the whole season, the same qualities requested to drivers, between 15 and 17, competing to the 2007 WSK races.
On November 1st, the young Belgian driver has been engaged with a series of sessions on the Portuguese circuit of Estoril, for his first experience on a F. BMW single-seater. During the test, De Brabander has favourably impressed bringing his engagement to an end together with other drivers on the same track. A total of 15 drivers took part at the Portuguese weekend devoted to collective tests in different categories.
Concerning his own future, Yannick De Brabander doesn’t intend to speed things up, concentrating himself on driving a kart, in the season 2008. This sport, in view of the young age of the WSK champion, can allow the Belgian to gain further experience before definitely moving to motor sport.
