Matias Laine will be the new driver of Tony Kart Racing Team for the next KF1 season.
Matias Laine and Tony Kart Racing Team signed an agreement of collaboration, both with great satisfaction. The young Finn will be a team-mate of the World Champion Marco Ardigò, the winner of the Open Master Gary Catt and the young European Champion of the KF2 category Will Stevens.
Matias, 17 years old from Joensuu (Finland), attracted everybody’s attention some seasons ago, proving to be fast and mature. These qualities have been so positively judged, that they conquered the interest of the manager of our technical team. The program of next season expects Laine to take part in all the most important International races, with the target to always race at the top.
Matias Laine will be part of a strongly motivated team, fully and hard working for the preparation of the next International season.
Immediately after our agreement with the promising Matias, the young driver made some tests with the intention of getting closer to the Racing Team.
Giacomo Aliprandi – Team Manager Tony Kart Racing Team
With Matias we closed the formation of the KF1 Team and I believe this is complete and competitive, we have two expert drivers (Ardigò and Catt) and two rising drivers (Stevens and Laine), all of them aimed by the desire to race well and repeat the good job made in the 2007 season. Laine, considering what I saw in the first test, seems to be determined and concrete, and these are very important skills in a 17 years old drivers. He raced many laps and immediately started his job in order to get fit for his debut, which will be in December at the important race in Macau.”
Matias Laine – driver Tony Kart Racing Team KF1 category“ I am very happy and I hope to make some good races with Marco, Gary and Will. It will surely be very exciting racing with them and I hope to learn a lot. For sure I will have to work hard. The first races with Tony Kart will be in Spain and in Macau, next month of December. I know the track in Barcellona but I have never been in Macau and I don’t know the circuit.”
In your first test with Tony Kart Racing Team you raced for many km. How did you prepare yourself for this event and how o you thing to prepare your new karting season?
“I play much sport and I particularly go running and cycling. I am concentrating ion my karting career and I personally hope this will be my job for the future.”
