Qualifying KF3 and KF2 in Zuera: Pole Gianmarco Ercoli and Lasse Sorensen
Published by Bas Kaligis 23 juli 2011 10:33 - Print | | Under the Spanish sun, the competitors for the CIK-FIA European KF2 and KF3 Championships had to be at the top this Friday for their Qualifying Practice. Italy’s Gianmarco Ercoli (Tony Kart-Vortex) set the fastest time in KF2, which will allow him to start all of his four Qualifying Heats from the pole position. Knowing that 71 drivers (out of 87) were in the same second, the 34 tickets for Sunday’s Final will be hard to gain. So, the front-runners during today’s Qualifying Practice – like Thailand’s Tanart Sathienthirakul (who holds an Irish licence), the French Pascal Belmaaziz (DR-Parilla), the Italian Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR-Parilla) and Argentina’s Pablo Maranzana (Kosmic-Vortex) – have already made a good part of the job.
In the Juniors’ KF3 category, Denmark’s Lasse Sorensen (Birel-BMB) proved to be the fastest on the 1.7km long Zuera circuit. The other competitors in front are Italy’s Simone Cunati (Top Kart-TM), the other Danish Nicklas Nielsen (Tony Kart-Vortex) and Harisson Scott (Intrepid-TM) and Alex Gill (Wright-Parilla), both from Great Britain. In this category, not less than 62 drivers were pointed in the same second.
The KF1 World Karting Championship Drivers will contest their first day of racing tomorrow with Qualifying Practice in the morning and two Races in the afternoon |
