Goodwood Kartways/Intrepid Canada kicks off its 2011 season this coming weekend as the team unveils at the opening round of the Florida Winter Tour Rotax Max Challenge. It will be the first of three RMC schedules Intrepid Canada will contest during its campaign, and its initial effort will see sixteen drivers from five different countries converge in an impressive new Intrepid Canada pit compound in Orlando, Florida.
“I am really happy with our line-up and I think we have some very talented drivers that can find themselves on the podium in the ultra-competitive Florida Winter Tour,” said Team Manager and Senior driver Marco Di Leo. “We are really looking forward to a busy and successful racing season in 2011. The team is growing in size and by reputation year after year, and we always look to race with the best of the best. It is important for Intrepid Canada that we continue find success at the very top levels of North American karting and we look forward to helping our pilots become champions again this year.”
Along with the Florida Winter Tour, Goodwood Kartways/Intrepid Canada will be very active in supporting both the Pan-American Rotax Max Challenge and Eastern Canadian Karting Championship during the year. The team will expand even further as Canada begins to thaw from winter and the summer season dawns, and with the mix of international talent under the tent, Intrepid Canada will look to surpass the impressive results it compiled a year ago.
“Our team is complied of drivers from across the country and around the world and this is because of Intrepid networking and strong relationships with the factory and teams in Europe and South America,” continued Di Leo. “We’re really looking forward to welcoming new drivers to the enjoyable atmosphere under the team tent, and having them benefit from the professionalism of our trained staff and the superior Intrepid chassis/HRS engine package that we offer to all team members. We really believe we have a lot of promise for 2011, and will look to begin showing it in Florida.”
A glance at the roster for the opening round this weekend certainly shows why Di Leo and Intrepid Canada are in such a positive frame of mind heading in. Along with the reigning Micro, Junior and Senior Champions from Eastern Canada, the team boasts a trio of South American DD2 drivers who competed in the recent Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals at La Conca. The full roster can be seen below, with no name standing out more than multi-time Champion and Canadian National #1 Jesse Lazare, who has made the switch to Intrepid for 2011. The roster also sports a number of international drivers and spans across all six FWT RMC classes.
